The TMF and the addiction community celebrates National Recovery Month every September, but the reality is that “Recovery Month is every month,” according to TMF officials. With that in mind, the TMF urges the physician community to honor someone in recovery or someone who has influenced their own recovery journey with a donation to the Physician’s Health Program. The program embraces recovery as the foundation of its Saving Lives. Saving Careers efforts.
Recovery is Needed*
- By 2020, mental and substance use disorders will surpass all physical diseases as a major cause of disability worldwide.
Recovery Works!*+
- Over the years, better than 90 percent of TMF PHP participants have successfully established and maintained their sobriety while enriching the lives of their patients and contributing to the communities where they live and practice.
- According to research that tracks individuals in treatment over extended periods, most people who get into and remain in treatment stop using drugs, decrease their criminal activity, and improve their occupational, social, and psychological functioning.
